Energy-based skin remodeling.

Designed to complement RE•LIFT®. Changes in the deeper supporting tissues can alter the position of the cheeks, jowls, jawline, brow and neck. At the same time, collagen changes and environmental exposure can affect the texture, firmness and overall quality of the skin.

Aging occurs at multiple levels of the face.

RE•LIFT® was developed primarily to address the structural component of facial aging. Lumigen fractional radiofrequency adds a tool for selected characteristics of the skin and underlying dermal tissue.

More than one procedure

The goal is not simply to lift.

It is to address structure, contour and skin quality together.

Together, RE•LIFT® and Lumigen allow your surgeon to think about facial rejuvenation as more than a single procedure.

Each technology has its own job. RE•LIFT® is designed to reposition and support facial tissues that have descended. Lumigen is designed to influence the condition of the treated skin and dermal tissue.

How it works

How Does Lumigen Work?

Lumigen uses fractional radiofrequency: electrical energy that generates controlled heat within targeted tissue.

Lumigen distributes that energy across multiple treatment points rather than treating the entire area uniformly. Depending on the device configuration and treatment parameters, energy is delivered into selected depths of tissue, where controlled heating can trigger a healing and remodeling response.

The objective is to create carefully controlled thermal zones while preserving the surrounding tissue. Over time, the healing response can contribute to remodeling of collagen and other structural components within the skin.

Two different jobs
RE•LIFT® and Lumigen are complementary, not interchangeable.

The approach

Why Lumigen Fits the RE•LIFT® Approach

A surgical lifting procedure and a Lumigen treatment solve different problems.

Consider a patient with jowling and reduced jawline definition who also has textural changes and declining skin quality. Correcting only the surface cannot reposition the jowls. Correcting only the jowls may not address the skin concerns.

A coordinated treatment plan allows each technology to do the job it was designed to do.

What Lumigen May Help Address

Depending on the device, treatment settings and your clinical characteristics, Lumigen may be considered for concerns involving skin texture, fine lines, firmness, visible signs of aging and other changes associated with collagen loss.

Your physician determines whether your concerns are appropriate for treatment. Results and protocols vary between patients.

Collagen and the Aging Face

Collagen contributes to the architecture of healthy skin, and its quantity and organization change progressively with age. Environmental exposure and other factors can accelerate those changes.

Lumigen creates controlled thermal stimulation within the tissue, prompting a healing response that can contribute to collagen remodeling. Because this process is biological, changes may continue after the initial treatment period rather than appearing only on the day of treatment.

Lumigen Does Not Replace Surgery

Energy-based devices are sometimes marketed as a "nonsurgical facelift." That can create confusion.

Lumigen may improve selected characteristics of treated tissue, but it is not equivalent to surgically repositioning descended facial structures. Significant jowling, midface descent, brow descent or neck laxity may require structural treatment if those tissues are the primary source of the concern.

Treatment Customization

Energy delivery must be individualized. Your physician or an appropriately licensed clinician sets treatment parameters according to your anatomy, goals, skin characteristics, the device labeling and the clinical protocol.

Variables can include intensity, energy level, number of passes, treatment pattern, area and number of sessions. There is no single Lumigen protocol that suits every patient.

Good to know

Is Lumigen Right for You?

A broader range of skin considerations

Radiofrequency energy does not depend on interaction with skin pigment in quite the same way as many laser technologies. That can make Lumigen an important option when physicians evaluate different skin types and treatment goals.

That does not mean every patient or skin type is automatically a candidate. A clinical evaluation remains essential.

Recovery

Recovery depends on the specific technology, treatment intensity, area treated and the individual. Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, pinpoint crusting, sensitivity or other short-term effects may occur.

Your clinician provides individualized aftercare. Follow all skincare, sun-protection and activity recommendations from your practice.

Your treatment plan

Part of Your Long-Term Care

RE•LIFT® is designed as more than a single surgical visit. You continue aging after facial rejuvenation: skin quality keeps changing, sun exposure continues and collagen keeps remodeling over time.

Offering Lumigen within your RE•LIFT® practice allows your surgeon and RE•LIFT® Procedure Manager to support an ongoing approach to maintaining your results, with the right technology for each layer.

Availability varies by location. Where Lux Glow fractional CO₂ is appropriate under state rules, it may be offered instead of or alongside Lumigen.

Lumigen FAQs

What patients ask first.

Is Lumigen a laser?

No. Lumigen uses radiofrequency technology, which uses electrical energy to generate controlled heat within tissue. It is different from laser technology.

Is Lumigen a replacement for Lux Glow?

The technologies are different. Lux Glow is a fractional CO₂ laser and Lumigen is fractional radiofrequency. A RE•LIFT® location may offer one or the other depending on the market, clinical requirements and regulations.

Does Lumigen replace RE•LIFT® surgery?

No. Lumigen treatments do not reposition descended facial structures the way surgical rejuvenation does.

Can Lumigen be used after a RE•LIFT® procedure?

It may be included in your broader treatment plan when your surgeon determines that treatment is appropriate and you have healed sufficiently.

Will I need multiple sessions?

Treatment frequency depends on the technology, the concern being treated, the treatment intensity and you. Your practice will recommend a protocol.

Who performs the treatment?

Treatment is performed by a practitioner legally authorized to operate the device under applicable state law, device requirements and the policies of your RE•LIFT® practice.
