Structural rejuvenation meets skin renewal.

RE•LIFT® procedures are designed to address the structural components of facial aging: the descent and weakening of the tissues that contribute to changes in the brow, cheeks, jawline and neck.

But facial aging does not occur only beneath the skin.

Years of sun exposure, collagen loss, environmental damage, repetitive facial movement and natural cellular aging can also change the quality of the skin itself.

Two layers of aging

Restore the structure. Renew the skin.

That distinction is important.

A surgical lifting procedure can restore tissue position and facial contour, but it does not necessarily correct every surface-level sign of aging. Conversely, resurfacing technology can improve the appearance and quality of the skin, but it cannot reposition descended facial structures.

RE•LIFT® combines these complementary approaches. Where it is appropriate and permitted, RE•LIFT® surgeons can offer Lux Glow, a fractional CO₂ laser designed to complement RE•LIFT® facial rejuvenation.

The objective is a more comprehensive approach to facial aging: restore the structure beneath the skin while improving the quality of the skin above it.

How it works

How Does Lux Glow Work?

Carbon dioxide laser technology has been used in aesthetic medicine for decades.

Lux Glow is a fractional CO₂ laser. It delivers controlled laser energy into microscopic treatment zones rather than treating the entire surface uniformly. This leaves areas of surrounding tissue untreated between treatment zones, allowing the skin's natural healing processes to participate in recovery.

The controlled thermal injury created by the treatment can initiate a wound-healing response that contributes to collagen remodeling and renewal within the treated tissue.

Depending on treatment settings, your anatomy, your skin condition and your physician's recommendations, Lux Glow resurfacing may be used to address uneven texture, fine lines, photodamage, roughness, certain pigmentation irregularities and changes associated with reduced collagen support. Treatment is always customized to your skin and goals.

The approach

Why RE•LIFT® Includes Lux Glow

Facial rejuvenation is multidimensional. A patient may have an excellent improvement in jawline or cheek position following a lifting procedure yet still show visible signs of aging at the skin surface.

For example, a patient may have sun-damaged skin, fine lines, rough texture, uneven pigmentation and reduced skin quality alongside deeper structural tissue descent. Treating only the structural component may leave some of those concerns unchanged.

That is why RE•LIFT® views Lux Glow resurfacing as a complementary technology rather than a competing treatment. When clinically appropriate, it can become part of a broader facial rejuvenation plan directed by your surgeon.

A Different Role Than a Facelift

Lux Glow resurfacing should not be confused with surgical lifting. A laser does not mechanically reposition a descended cheek, elevate a jowl or restore weakened facial support structures.

Similarly, a facial lifting procedure does not function as a resurfacing laser. The two technologies address different layers of the aging process.

The most comprehensive result may require addressing both facial structure and skin quality rather than treating either one in isolation.

The Fractional Treatment Concept

Traditional fully ablative resurfacing removes the surface of the treated skin across a continuous area. Lux Glow's fractional technology creates an organized pattern of microscopic treatment zones instead.

Your physician can adjust treatment parameters based on the treatment objective, anatomical area, skin characteristics and desired recovery.

Some patients need treatment primarily for texture. Others have more significant photodamage. Others receive resurfacing as one part of a broader RE•LIFT® plan. Your physician determines the right protocol.

Supporting Collagen Remodeling

Collagen plays an important role in skin structure. As skin ages, the quantity, organization and quality of collagen can change.

Lux Glow treatments are intended to stimulate the body's healing response within treated tissue, which can contribute to collagen remodeling over time. The appearance of the skin can continue to evolve as healing progresses.

Results vary according to treatment intensity, biology, skin condition, treatment area and other factors.

Treatment Areas

Lux Glow is commonly used for resurfacing areas of facial skin where texture, photodamage, fine lines or other signs of aging are present.

Treatment areas, settings and protocols always follow the device labeling, your physician's judgment, your evaluation and applicable state regulations.

There is no one standardized protocol for every patient.

Good to know

Is Lux Glow Right for You?

Patient selection matters

Lux Glow resurfacing is not appropriate for everyone. Skin type, pigmentation, medical history, medications, healing characteristics, prior procedures, sun exposure and active skin conditions can all influence candidacy.

Your surgeon or an appropriately licensed clinician evaluates these factors before recommending treatment. Resurfacing creates a controlled injury to the skin, so it involves a healing period.

What recovery can involve

Recovery varies substantially with treatment depth and intensity. You may experience redness, swelling, sensitivity, peeling, crusting, temporary changes in pigmentation or other expected effects.

Sun protection and following your aftercare instructions are particularly important. More aggressive treatments generally involve more recovery than lighter treatments.

Your treatment plan

Where Lux Glow Fits in Your RE•LIFT® Plan

There is no single sequence for every patient. Your surgeon determines whether Lux Glow is appropriate and when it should occur, such as after appropriate healing from a RE•LIFT® procedure.

Keeping your skin treatment within the same practice means continuity of care, and gives your surgeon greater control over your complete result.

Availability varies by location. State laws and other requirements differ, so where Lux Glow is not offered, your RE•LIFT® practice may offer Lumigen fractional radiofrequency instead.

Lux Glow FAQs

What patients ask first.

Is Lux Glow the same thing as RE•LIFT®?

No. RE•LIFT® is a surgical facial rejuvenation approach. Lux Glow is a fractional CO₂ laser, an energy-based skin resurfacing technology that may complement the surgical result.

Does Lux Glow tighten the face like a facelift?

Lux Glow may produce collagen remodeling and changes in skin quality, but it does not reposition descended facial tissues the way surgical lifting does.

Will every RE•LIFT® patient receive Lux Glow?

No. Recommendations are individualized. Your surgeon determines whether Lux Glow is appropriate for you.

Is Lux Glow available at every RE•LIFT® location?

Not always. The technology offered can depend on state regulations, practice circumstances and clinical requirements. Some locations offer Lumigen fractional radiofrequency instead.

Can I have both RE•LIFT® and Lux Glow?

Potentially, when your surgeon determines that both are appropriate and sets the timing and treatment plan.
